Horseback riding is one of the oldest disciplines of humankind and the relationship between man and his horse holds an important place in the history of the Americas. In fact, the Colorado and Wyoming Rocky Mountain area is the site of a famous 500-mile horse race that took place in 1908, starting in Evanston, Wyoming and finishing in Denver, Colorado. The race received tremendous attention and was won by Dode Wykert, who was officially declared Colorado’s greatest horseman.

A special aspect of horseback riding is the development of a connection between you and your horse. Learning to communicate with them, execute desired movements and overcome obstacles is not only a unique and pleasurable experience but it also helps the brain learn and store new information and develop faster problem-solving capabilities. Physically, horseback riding is excellent for developing core strength and better posture.

You may not become the next Dode Wykert, but it’s definitely worth a go.
